Portraiture Techniques?

This appears to be a typical 3 light set up. A main light about 45 degrees off to the right side. A fill next to the camera, and a background light aimed at the background. Notice how the subjects are separated from the background- that is one function of using a background light.The background light is low and behind the subjects out of camera view.
