UPC Scanner for Food Pantry?

I'm building a new computer and would like to put my old one in my kitchen. Is there an application i can get that will let me keep a upc catalog of my pantry through a barcode scanner and let me print out a list of what i need when i go to the store? (example: scan in item xxx, set quantity, use up item xxx, scan again to tell it i'm out, when i go to the store, tell the pc to print a list of items needed.)
