Has America once more demonstrated itself to be an open, freedom loving, great and magnanimous nation?

Whilst it is recognised that the shocking atrocity of 9/11 is, in my opinion totally unforgivable and the consequential loss of 3000 innocent lives is truly heartbreaking the endorsement of the building of a Mosque at ground zero must be a mive vexation to the few Islamic psychopathic extremists who are intent on causing division and violent strife among the ethnic groups within the U.S. America is also fully aware that the vast majority of Muslims are hard working decent people all of whom contribute greatly to the advancement of the society in which they live. With this knowledge the United States is way above permitting such vermin to contaminate it's long and admirable history of freedom of religious and political expression.
