Determining severity of prostate cancer?

My grandpa was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. They said it was malignant but don't know what stage it's at or how severe it is. They're treating it by planting 80 "seeds" of radiation by the tumor...can anyone give me at least an approximation of how sever this could or could not be? Thank you.
